Kamote Riders Common Safety Violations
Nanggagalaiti ka rin ba pag may nakasabay o nakasalubong kang “Kamote Rider”? O ikaw ba yung “once (or many times) in your life" ay naging kamote rider din? Hala oh, natawa ka! Well, kung nagsisimula ka pa lang o matagal nang nagdadrive ng motor, this is for you.
I have shared in the previous blog the common traffic violations, now I will be sharing here the common safety violations of kamote riders:
No Helmet
Riding without wearing a protective helmet.
When I go for rides, kapag di nakahelmet ang riders, I assume that they are just living nearby. Many riders have been making the reasoning that, “malapit lang naman” or “wala naman nanghuhuli”. Here’s an analogy I made clear in my mind: in an accident between two riders, mas mataas ang chance na malala ang damage sa rider na di nakahelmet.
Over passenger
Carrying 3 passengers on a motorcycle.
We normally see this in some Asian countries — three adults in one motorcycle or adults with children. Napakadelikado nito lalong lalo na sa mga batang angkas. Personally, hindi ako nagdadarive nang lampas sa isa ang angkas.
Overloading
Carrying heavier than what the motorcycle can handle.
In a motorcycle brochure, weight limit is a significant information. For example, ang Yamaha Fazzio ay mayroong weight limit na 150 kilograms. Bakit kailangan sundin ang weight limit? Kasi ito yung sinet ng manufacturer so that you can handle the motorcycle without affecting its performance/maneuvering. For you to know the weight limit of your motorcycle, it pays to check the manual.
Texting While Driving
Using a mobile phone while riding, which can distract the rider and increase the risk of accidents.
We may be very familiar with using the phone while doing other tasks, but texting while driving is a dangerous habit that can lead to serious accidents. To stay safe, we know what to do. Keep our eyes on the road and our hands on the handlebars.
Stunting
Performing dangerous maneuvers on the road, such as wheelies, burnouts, or jumping.
Well, I don’t normally see drivers stunting on the highway or main road, but adventurous people especially teenagers do this in their neighborhood. Stunting, or performing dangerous motorcycle tricks on public roads, is not only illegal but also incredibly dangerous. Ang mga ganitong stunts, tulad ng wheelies, burnouts, and jumps, are cool, but can lead to serious accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. It's crucial to remember that public roads are meant for safe and responsible transportation, not for reckless stunts.
These safety violations not only endanger the kamote rider's own safety but also pose a threat to other road users. It is crucial to promote safe riding practices and enforce traffic laws to reduce the number of accidents caused by reckless motorcycle riders.
